Don?t you just love those people who buy very noisy and annoying toys for your children?
I am one of them!
I am one of them because I don?t have children of my own and, at the end of the day, I just want to be their fun aunt.
Recently, when my nephew came to visit us, we gave him a very noisy toy. Instead of giving him the toy at the end of our time together, I gave it to him at the beginning.
Big mistake!
After ten seconds, I thoroughly regretted my decision. I also began to feel sorry for his parents and his baby brother back at his home, so I tried figure out how to get rid of the toy.
?Dear Charlie, I have some bad news:
? The dog ate your toy? yes ,you are right, we don?t have a dog?
? The eagle flew through the window, grabbed your toy and flew away
? While you were in the toilet, there was a tornado, and in that tornado there was a shark (?sharknado?), and the shark grabbed your toy with its big teeth and disappeared.
Of course, I couldn?t do that to him.
We went to drop Charlie home. We went inside and Charlie started to show of his new toy. It was loud and his parents were NOT amused. My brother, Charlie?s Dad, took the toy to the kitchen and taped over the speaker with sellotape. Suddenly, this noisy toy was bearable. It was still making strange noises but we all could cope with it.
Don?t we all have things in our lives that we want to be rid off?
We all have different burdens, which are bringing us down.
With our hearts heavy with disappointment, we question God about them. We also feel sorry for ourselves. We indulge in self-pity because our burdens seem too heavy to bear.
Like the loud toy, which we cannot switch off, problems seem to be never ending and ultimately, overwhelming.
There are challenges in our lives which don?t seem to be ever taken from us. However, we have God who can sellotape over these challenges. We cannot fight them but we can make peace with them.
?The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.? Exodus 14:14
God will give you the peace that you are looking for. He will help you to accept yourself with all your beautiful uniqueness. Ask God to put ?sellotape? over the ?noise? in your life.
?My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.? Exodus 33:14
