?Love will prevail!? – This is so much easier to say than put into action.

In light of recent events, I have been considering that despite us saying that we are all about charity, equal rights or loving unconditionally, we do not actually do what we say. We do not put our words into action.

As much as we think that we are open-minded and in support of justice, when push comes to shove, we often drop our beliefs, our convictions.

We are not as good as we think we are

We are never as open minded and justice seeking as we think we are. We are not as good as we think we are. There is always more space for love, kindness and sacrifice.

Are we choosing our own long-term comfort instead of the discomfort of facing injustice?

Are we snug in the choices that we are making?

Even though God has given us the wisdom and the tools necessary to help those in need, are we turning the other way because we are too afraid to step out of our comfort zones?

Sadly, we have become comfortable with injustice. I myself have become comfortable with it.

Aren?t we tired of hearing ourselves saying that we want to help the ?orphan and the widow? – that is the abused and vulnerable of this world – yet at the same time, we are ignoring the blatant daily occurrences of injustice right in front of us?

We say to ourselves that it is not our place to interfere, or to help out. We tell ourselves to look away, that it is someone else?s problem or that we?re too busy to step in.

We won?t risk our careers, our good names and the predictable routine of our lives.

Changing our perspective

We must realize that our very own lives are broken and thanks to people stepping in and helping us, we also wouldn?t be where we are.

Love for others must triumph.

This kind of perspective can only come from God as it realigns our lives changing our core values and subsequent actions. We can ask Him for eyes to see more but if we are not brave enough to follow through with the necessary actions, what is it all for in the end?

Today, I?m praying for courage for you and me. I want Him to encourage us and reassure us with the same words He used with Joshua before the Israelites entered the Promised Land.

?Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid;?do not be discouraged,?for the?Lord?your God will be with you wherever you go.? Joshua 1:9

With Him, we can be strong and courageous.

With Him, we can be brave enough to risk it all for that one, for what might look insignificant, for ?nothing?.

We can take action

Today, it is down to us to take the first brave step of creating loving homes, places of security and shelter for those in need. WE can make a change. We can take action.

We can stand up for those who are being denied rights because of their gender, colour or beliefs. These sorts of things are happening right in front of us every day but we must have the courage to see it, name it and do something about it.

There are children in our neighborhoods that need more than a smile. There are families in our towns that need our support and love. There is a person in your church who needs help to stop their abuser. Let’s not pretend that we don?t see it. Take action.

Stop evil and let love prevail.
